We request our members and supporters welcome the incoming Committee for the forthcoming year.
All positions were nominated without contention and voted in the affirmative unanimously.
Our elected President is Gary Stocks. Gary may be familiar to some, being a member of the founding committee in 2009 and has always been an impassioned supporter of the Baragoola and the meaning behind the project. Following a break to develop business interests in 2012, Gary returned in 2016 and is enthusiastically looking forward to contributing to both heading up the committee and getting stuck in on board.
Our Public Officer is Jonathon (Jono) Brogan. Jono was re-elected to the role unanimously and will extend his excellent work in ensuring the Association continues to achieve the high level of compliance required of it in today’s regulatory landscape (or minefield …..!). Jono is also settling into life with a new family and we look forward to him reappearing on board as the family grows.
For 17/18 our Treasurer is Steve Oakley. Steve had fulfilled the dual roles of Vice President and Treasurer during 16/17 whilst the committee was in transition. Steve will now have focus on the books and is also keen to see work on board ramp up. Steve is also “Master of Tongs”, successfully organising our Bunnings fund raising BBQ’s each quarter.
The Vice President role is declared vacant and may be filled with a casual appointment throughout the coming year.
It is with pleasure that we announce two new members have joined the committee ranks as Ordinary Committee members. Though Ordinary Committee do not fill statutory roles, their participation is vital the ensure the Committee has the depth of talent and breadth of knowledge to ensure we operate within our Constitution and in the best interests of the Baragoola herself.
Will Spiers nominated for as was elected unanimously to an Ordinary Committee role. Will works within the maritime industry and in passionate about timber boats. He also has extensive experience in industries allied to the vision of the Baragoola project. Please welcome and support Will in his role with the Association.
Peter Watson is welcomed on the committee as an Ordinary Committee member, continuing his association with the vessel and has the opportunity to build on the excellent work he initiated, with developing a Vision Statement for the future of the Baragoola. This Vision will guide the Association and the membership in fulfilling our goals of ensuring the Baragoola remains and is accessible to the people of Sydney and the broader community. Peter’s assistance at the committee level, as well as continuing his excellent on board preservation and rebuilding work is an asset to the team.
We ask you support your committee and continue your valued support of the Baragoola for the coming year; there is always much happening!
